The East Yorkshire Cross Country League or EYCCL is a series of 6 races, run throughout the winter months from October to March. Eight local clubs organise and compete in this league; Scarborough AC, Driffield Striders, Bridlington RR, City of Hull AC, Goole Vikings Striders, Pocklington Runners, Selby Striders, East Hull Harriers, Yorkshire Wolds Runners and Beverley AC.
The league is primarily a team based competition, with the finishing positions of the first 3 runners to finish in the lady’s team and first 6 runners to finish in the men’s team being added together. The team with the lowest score wins that race. These results are accumulative over the season to determine the series winners. These results are announced at the final race at Sewerby.
There are also individual prizes up for grabs in various age category’s using accumulative finishing positions over a number of the races.
The League is available to all first claim members and is free to enter, you can do as many or as few races as you like. Just collect a number which is used for all the races from David Morrison on Wednesday club night and then turn up on the day. The races are great social events and runners of all levels are welcome. Mud and hills are normally guaranteed so off road footwear is strongly advised.
