Our awards presentation night takes place every Spring.<\/p>\n

This is our clubs’ biggest celebration of its members and their running achievements for the year.\u00a0 We celebrate our fastest runners over all the distances, our handicap winners, knock-out cup winners and of course the many nominations for the discretionary awards that come from you.\u00a0 We hand out over 40 prizes.\u00a0 You are asked to make nominations via an easy to complete online survey.\u00a0 So start having a think about the people who have inspired you this year\u2026\u00a0 Maybe they improved?\u00a0 \u2026 Maybe they supported you to improve?\u00a0 \u2026 Maybe their positive attitude has inspired you to great things.\u2026 Maybe they work tirelessly for the club?\u00a0 \u2026 Maybe you have made a good friend through the club that has supported you on a journey.\u00a0 \u2026 Maybe you made a friend that just made you laugh.\u00a0 We celebrate everyone!\u00a0 Please start having a think about what awards you might nominate for.\u00a0 Don’t forget that these awards cover the calendar year, so get that memory stretched back over the whole year!<\/p>\n

Marathon performance of the year<\/td>\nAny race and any gender, specifically relating to this iconic race distance (26.2 miles).\u00a0 Recognises an outstanding performance over 26.2 miles.\u00a0 Maybe an outstanding personal best, a noteworthy performance on a challenging course or conditions, a return from injury, an incredible first marathon, displaying incredible resilience or a brilliant fight to the finish.<\/td>\nNominations from members, decided by Committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Ultra-distance performance of the year<\/td>\nAwarded to either gender.\u00a0 Awarded to the runner who has achieved the most noteworthy performance over a distance beyond 26.2 miles.\u00a0 This could be a first timer, success against the odds of conditions and terrain or an incredible time over an epic distance.<\/td>\nNominations from members, decided by Committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Most improved runner of the year<\/td>\nAwarded to either gender.\u00a0 Awarded to the club member who has made the most notable improvement in performances compared to any previous year.\u00a0 This would take account of a range of distances and the percentage increase in performances across the year.<\/td>\nNominations from members, decided by Committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Most promising newcomer of the year<\/td>\nAwarded to either gender.\u00a0
\n<\/strong>Club member who has joined during the calendar year who shows the most potential. (Members who have re-joined after a gap of 5 or less years are not eligible).<\/td>\n		Nominations from members, decided by Committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Club team effort of the year<\/td>\nRecognises a team (2 or more) who have worked together to achieve an aim.\u00a0 This could be a notable result, impressive time or through team spirit and collaboration to achieve a goal.\u00a0 This may not necessarily be associated with a race.<\/td>\nNominations from members, decided by Committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Green award of the year<\/td>\nAn individual or team who have worked hard to further our club\u2019s green principles.<\/td>\nNominations from members, decided by Committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Committee award of the year<\/td>\nChosen by the committee in recognition of someone who has shown commitment and dedication in support of their club.<\/td>\nDecided by Committee.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Club member\u2019s member<\/td>\nThe award is in recognition of a member\u2019s contribution to the club either during that year or over a period of time but, primarily, not through running achievements.<\/td>\nNominations from members, voted by members.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Club runner of the year<\/td>\nThis is considered the top award for the evening and is awarded to the club member considered to have achieved the most during the year in terms of running results.\u00a0\u00a0 This may be through improved results, achievements in various races, or overcoming adversity to succeed.<\/td>\nNominations from members, voted by members.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Any club member can nominate themselves or another club member, during January each year for the preceding calendar year. \u00a0The Committee then discuss all those nominated at their February committee meeting. \u00a0In the event any committee member is nominated, they leave the room for the conversation of that particular award.\u00a0 The Committee reserve the right to reallocate a nomination to an alternative category or withdraw a nomination if deemed not suitable.\u00a0 The awards discussion is facilitated by a volunteer.<\/p>\n
